Meet Dr. Helen Tinsley

Dr. Helen Tinsley is an educator, consultant, author and professional development facilitator whose career has been devoted to helping people learn, grow, and better understand one another.

Her work draws upon extensive experience in education, leadership, literacy, early childhood education, professional learning, and organizational development.

Throughout her career, Dr. Tinsley has worked with educators, administrators, organizations, and communities, bringing together academic knowledge and practical, real-world experience.

​She founded Tinsley Institute with a belief that continues to guide its work today: greater understanding creates stronger human connections, and stronger connections help people and organizations thrive.

Dr. Tinsley is also the creator of The S.M.I.L.E. — Survey of Multicultural Interactions & Linguistic Engagement, a research-based self-assessment designed to encourage reflection and deepen understanding of our interactions and experiences with others.

Literacy & Early Childhood Education
Experience supporting teaching and learning during the critical early years of children's development.

Co-developed and taught in the first dual language program in NJ.  Experienced at providing strategies and supports for second language learners.
